Luton A C fished in the NFA Division 2 Nationals at Northampton on Saturday.

The match secretary on behalf of Luton Angling Club would like to congratulate the club captain and the team for achieving the silver medal (2nd place). The matchmen put in many hours of practice prior to the event and it was a brilliant team effort. We had one section winner, Ian Browne.

We are now in Division 1 and next year's National will be held on the Stainforth and Keadby canal in Yorkshire.

On the Grand Union canal at The Globe, Jim Waller and his mate Pete had a great 2 hour evening session, between them they caught 4 bream and 4 carp. Jim came out on top, he only caught one carp but it went over 30lbs. His scales only went up to 30lbs and the needle went past that so he's invested in a new set of scales just in case it comes along again. At Beckerings Reservoir Steppingley the heaviest reported carp last week went over 25lbs. An angler caught 3 carp to 18lbs in an evening session and junior angler Daniel Glass fishing at night for the first time caught 3 carp between 13 and 15lbs and a nice bream.

The South Lagoon at Wyboston is producing heavy catches of bream, swims 1 to 8 on the west bank are very productive. Paul Ralph caught 80lbs of bream to 7lbs in the same area. Mark Symonds caught 4 bream to 6lbs, Mick Barber had 12lb of skimmers on maggot and John Rutter caught 20lb of bream on feeder fed sweetcorn.
