At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley the carp were showing on the surface and during the week a number of double figure carp were caught using floating crust and dog biscuit. An angler doing a midweek night session caught 10 doubles and two 20 pounders. At the weekend Paul Cheadle caught a 22lb common. The pleasure anglers are catching mixed bags but in the main small perch are making up most of the weight.

 

At Wyboston, North House Lake is prolific as ever with a large number of carp coming to the net. Jason Reagan had a great session with commons of 22lb, 18lb 10oz, 16lb 14oz and 14lb 6ozs with a mirror of 15lb 6ozs. Kelvin Newman had an 18lb 4oz mirror; James Oxborough had 17lb and 12lb commons. Kerri Clarke and Adrian Purser caught mirrors of 16lb and 15lb 8oz respectively. Dave Oxborough had commons of 13lb 5ozs and 13lb 4ozs and Peter Goldsmith had a common of 13lb. On the adjoining River Great Ouse, John Constantine caught a 15lb bag of roach. On the South Lagoon with the weather cooling the large bream have disappeared, a lot of skimmers, roach and small perch are coming to the net. Dawn Hatchelt caught a great zander weighing 11lb 8ozs. John Mustoe caught 2 huge bream weighing 10lbs and 8lbs. Angel As had a match there on Sunday the result: -

 

1st           Dennis McSweeney             21lb 10ozs  mainly bream

 

2nd        Eddie Adam                         8lb 10ozs bream

 

3rd        Tony Denton              4lb 10ozs.

 

Angel A S enjoyed their visit and will be returning.

 

           

On the Grand Union canal the fishing is consistent along most stretches. Around the Globe area a number of large carp have been lost to anglers pole fishing. Visiting anglers do not realise that carp go to over 20lbs in this area, A number of carp up to low doubles have been caught on the surface but the majority of fish coming to the net are skimmers with small roach and perch with the odd decent fish. Around Old Linslade the pleasure angler has caught a number of small carp between 1 and 3lbs. At the White Bridge over the weekend 6 anglers were fishing and caught a good head of skimmers.

 

On Sunday Luton A C entertained Vauxhall on the Grand Union canal sections 4b and 4c Chelmscote for the Paul Kisby Memorial Trophy. Vauxhall won this match convincingly. Results: -

On the Grand union canal on section 9a Leighton Buzzard had a club match.
