At Beckerings Reservoir Steppingley the carp are putting the weight on in preparation for the winter months. A number of good multiple catches have been reported the best are Phil Anderson's 7 carp in an overnight session the largest breaking the 20lb mark. Mark Sessions caught 5 carp in an afternoon/evening session, 3 doubles and 2 20's one at 20lb 6ozs and the other at 23lb 4ozs. Mick Stringer caught a nice mirror at 24lbs and its pleasing to hear that mixed bags of roach and perch are coming out on the float.

 

On North House Lake Wyboston the carp are coming out in good numbers, like Beckerings many multiple catches. James Regan in a session caught 8 carp to 19lbs.

James Oxborough had commons at 26lb 10ozs and 18lb plus a mirror at 15lb 10ozs and a 9lb bream. Stuart Oxborough had 2 commons at 23lb and 20lb 2ozs with a mirror at 9lbs and on another visit he caught a 17lb common.

 Bruce Starling had commons of 18lb and 17lb and a mirror of 19lb 4ozs.

Mark Farrell caught a 17lb mirror and a 15lb common and finally Scott Walker caught a 23lb common.

 

On the adjacent South Lagoon bream and skimmers are still the most prominent species many falling to red maggot feeder fished. Paul Thorn had a great day catching 29 bream the heaviest weighing 7lb 8ozs.Dawn Hatchett caught a 2lb perch and Terry Wright caught a 9lb zander on a fish flavoured boilie.

 

On the river Great Ouse plenty of small chub, perch and roach have been caught on maggot, hemp and worm. John Webber caught a 5lb 3oz chub.

 

Further downstream at Black Cat good bags of roach are being caught on wheat. David Edwards fishing peg 1 caught a 2lb 8oz chub and a number of quality roach. Danny Kelly continues to knock the roach out on hemp and wheat and Dawn Hatchett caught a 2lb 9oz perch.

 

On the Grand Union canal the fishing is consistent with good bags of bream, skimmers and roach reported at Stoke Hammond, Chelmscote, Sandy Bridge and the Globe. Carp are still showing with reported captures at Grove Lock, Slapton and Ivinghoe.

 

There were a number of matches on the canal last weekend.
