10th December 2006

There have very few reports this week due to the poor condition of the river, the weather and the time of year.

On the canal there have been almost no anglers on the bank probably due to the wind and rain during the week and the cold snap at the week end, those who have been on the bank found the fish feeding with good reports of roach catches from many sections.

On the South Lagoon there have been large numbers of small pike being taken up to double figures with the best reported from Nigel Gillard at 20lb 2oz he also had a smaller fish at 10lb 11oz Andy Taylor also reported fish to 8lb 12oz.

The roach have moved into the Lagoon from the river and there have been some catches of quality fish taken mostly on float fished maggot. Jon Constantine had a catch of quality fish as did George Gibson.

The river has started to fine down and the bailiffs report that it should in good condition by midweek as long as we have no more rain.

The match this week was held on section 14 and 14 anglers took part.

1st P Currell Jnr who had a roach catch of 15lb 5oz

2nd D Perry 11lb 9oz

3rd M.Harley 9lb 10oz

Next week is the Christmas match and will be held on the canal on the Globe. Dave Read our match secretary asked me to remind all taking part not to forget to bring along the present!
