On the Grand Union canal last week a number of carp to low doubles were reported around section 4 at Chelmscote the majority to evening or night anglers. Other carp of varying weights have been reported at Slapton and Grove Lock. Those who ventured out have had mixed fortunes. With the changeable weather mixed bags of skimmers, perch, roach and gudgeon have been rare those catching have reported small roach and perch predominantly.
Up at Wyboston on North House Lake, Ivan Sayer had a great session catching 6 commons between 10 and 18lbs and a mirror of 21lb 12ozs. Bruce Starling had a brace of commons weighing 24lb 10ozs and 12lb and not be outdone son David a junior member had a 19lb 11oz common. Tim Toomey also caught a common weighing 20lb 8ozs. The South Lagoon is also fishing very well with large numbers of bream and roach coming to the net. A few of the larger bream are showing again.
At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley, large carp are still falling to floater baits, Gary Stevens caught a specimen common weighing 27lbs on the surface. A couple over 20 lbs came out to night anglers and Paul Fowler had a great session catching 5 carp up to 26lbs. If you visit our updated website, log on to lutonac.org and you can view some of Paul’s fish. Our thanks to Dave Murdoch for his efforts over the past few months in getting the new site up and running.
The match men fished an inter-club with Dunstable AC at the Quarry in Houghton Regis. Dunstable AC won convincingly. The top 3 Luton anglers were: -
1st Malcolm Dann 2lbs 4ozs.
2nd Dave Read 2lb 0ozs.
3rd Brian Fensome 1lb 8ozs.
This Sunday Luton AC holds a club match. This is on the Grand Union canal section 14 at Ivinghoe Golf Range. Draw 7.45am.
