The weather this week has severely affected the fishing on our waters, the heavy rain has firstly kept anglers off the bank and as the water has found its way into the rivers they have become swollen and in some cases come over their banks.
At Lavendon the section below the weir was over and into the surrounding fields on Sunday and the river sections in the North of the county were at the top of the banks and pushing through. Hopefully if there is no more rain during the week they may be ok by next weekend
On the South Lagoon the fishing started off at the start of the week quite well with John Constantine taking a tench of 7lb 14oz and another tench of 5lb 11oz falling to the rod of John Rutter, Regular Simon Heath took pike of 12lb and there were plenty of roach and perch being caught on float fishing tactics, With the water entering from the river and the sudden fall in temperature the sport over the week end slowed with few fish showing, how ever with the river in flood this usually means the Lagoon soon picks up as the fish from the river move in and take shelter.
On North house as predicted sport has started to improve after the falling temperatures of last week, Jason Regan had a common of 17lb and Bruce Starling had a mirror of 19lb 9oz with the best fish of the week falling to Brett Herdiman at 22lb 7oz he also had a smaller fish at 15lb.
At Beckerings the bailiff reports very few anglers have fished this week, a few small pike have been caught with very little else reported. Repairs have been taking place to the platforms that have become damaged over the season anyone able to assist please contact fisheries officer Ken Scott (see the forum for more info)

Do any
of you have the journalistic bug and want to put pen to paper to write or
suggest articles for next year's membership newsletter? We will consider any
topics relevant and of interest to all the Club members for inclusion, remember
not all our members have access to the Website so the newsletter is a good way
of sharing information. It could perhaps be a few notes on your favourite water,
or a really good day somewhere, or a general article on fishing, or ideas on
what the membership in general want to see. So let’s get some ideas please.
If you would like to participate in this you must be a Club Member, and
accompany your article with your membership number (Credits will be given for
articles published) If so please get your thinking caps on, and turn it into an
article for us. We can't guarantee publication of course, but suggestions for
inclusion, perhaps accompanied by photographs can be e-mailed to the Club. It
would help us if you let us know what you are going to come up with of course,
we don’t want all the topics to be the same!
We have a copy deadline of the end of January, so why not use a few hours over
Christmas to help. Let’s make this next issue a bumper one with plenty of
interest for everyone.
