At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley large carp are still falling for floating dog biscuits Gary Stevens accounted for 5 up to 21lb these were a mix of mirrors and commons. On the bottom Mark Stringer caught 3 commons up to 19lb using boilies.

 

On the river at Biddenham the roach fishing is excellent at present with a number of good bags being reported. A number of anglers are fishing only a rod length out using hemp and tares/hemp, our bailiff Des Saunders watched an angler in peg 6 catch a fish a cast using this method. The odd double figure carp has been reported in the spinney, pleasure anglers have reported the odd tench. This Saturday we aim to replace the gate at the car park entrance, this will not stop anglers entering and exiting.

 

On the river at Black Cat, bailiff Terry Kelly and Mick Barker caught good bags of roach using hemp as feed and wheat on the hook. Terry stated that the quality of these roach is outstanding and wishes more members would try this under fished water.

 

On the South Lagoon at Wyboston the bream fishing is exceptional. Andy Smith trying to improve on his 200lb bag last week did another 24-hour stint and caught 170lb of bream the largest weighing 8lbs. Not to be outdone Michael Simpson caught over 100lbs of bream and Daniel Walton caught a massive specimen weighing over 10lbs. The tench are still coming to the net. Steve Briggs caught 3 up to 4lbs and John Webber caught a 6lb 1oz specimen. On North House Lake, Sue Sayer caught a nice common at 19lb 12ozs with a 7lb bream, Ivan Sayer caught a 6lb 8oz bream and Kevin Jeffrey caught a 9lb common. On the adjacent river Great Ouse plenty of roach and chublets are coming to the net using most float methods but the bigger roach and chub are coming out at dusk or into the night.

 

On the Grand Union canal in Leighton Buzzard, the area around the White Bridge has been very productive, plenty of bream have been reported up to 2lbs, a number of anglers are still losing carp in this area. At Stoke Hammond in the lay-by, roach and skimmers have been caught in good numbers. At Dolphin Lane we have also had goods bags of roach and skimmers.

 

On Saturday Luton A C match-men fish in the Division 2 National on the Grand Union canal around Northampton. I know they have had a few practice sessions and we wish them well. Luton fished an inter club against Ampthill & DAS on Sunday. Luton came out on top weighing in 21lb 5oz 8 drams against Ampthill’s 13lb 12ozs.

This Sunday Luton A C compete for the Swain Cup and the 1st round of the Knockout Shield. The venue is Bridge 110 at Old Linslade on the Grand Union canal. Draw 7.30am.
