The heavy rain during the
week has kept many anglers away from the bank this week particularly on the
canal, Alf reports that until Thursday and Friday he had only seen the odd
person fishing although those brave enough to venture out were rewarded with
fish.
At the North end of the
canal around the lay-by, there were plenty of fish caught on the float, most
being roach to around 6/7oz caught on maggot and corn. On the other sections it
was much the same story with anglers taking mainly roach and skimmers on maggot
and corn, The majority of anglers were again along the Globe section also
taking roach and skimmers along with the odd better bream on corn and pellet.
Alf has asked us to remind
all those using the canal to take their litter home as he is finding
many discarded corn and meat cans as well as bottles now the warmer weather is
here.
Please remember no cans
are allowed on
Also please remember the
keep net restriction is still in force until the 1st of June.
At Beckerings
the story is much the same with the wet weather this week keeping many off the
banks.
The rain coupled with the
fact that the farmer has started pumping has at least coloured the water a
little as it has been very clear over the past few weeks.
The anglers fishing during
the week report the bream and tench are feeding along
with the carp, Peter Strudwick fished early in the
week to take a two carp to 20lb 2oz along with two bream to 8lb and a tench of 6lb. Another angler taking fish was Gary
Stephenson who had two carp at 13lb and 15lb.
The bream and tench on the South Lagoon are still being taken in good
numbers with plenty of muliple fish catches falling
mainly to feeder tactics with maggot and corn as hook bait. Lady angler
Dawn Hatchelt had five bream to 7lb. The roach and
skimmers are falling to float fished maggot in good numbers.
At North House Lake the carp
continue to feed despite the rain, Andy Smith had a red letter day taking seven
carp to 18lb in one session, another regular Steve Slater had a good catch
taking mirrors of 24lb 6oz and 20lb 4oz along with a common of 22lb 6oz he also
had bream of 6lb.Another regular Bret Herdman had a
18lb 6oz common .
Darren Bates had two nice fish,
one a common of 22lb 6oz as well as a mirror of 15lb, Graham Murfin had two fish both over 20lb.
Junior angler David Starling
had a 19lb common along with two bream to 8lb and Bruce Starling had a two carp
catch one of 12lb 8oz and one of 13lb 6oz both commons.
