The River this week has been flooded, but was back within its banks by Sunday on most sections however with the weather forecasts predicting more rain many flood warnings have already been issued already issued so unfortunately this coming week will almost certainly see the river unfishable.
The South Lagoon is producing some small pike, Simon Heath taking fish to 13lb and Barry Hawes having fish to double figures, apart from this there have been few reports, maybe the constant heavy water flow into the Lagoon from the river is affecting the sport.
On North House lake I can now report that the water level is back to its normal level and the lake is full, also the spring that feeds the lake is running again so hopefully we will not see the water level fall as we have over the past few years.
The fishing seems to have improved this week with many of the anglers taking fish. Two anglers reported some good bream this week regular Brett Herdman had fish to 7lb and junior David Starling had fish of 8lb. The best catch of the week fell to Andy Smith who found the carp. He took fish of 23lb 13 oz, 21lb 12oz, 21lb, 16lb all commons as well as a mirror of 22lb 12oz.
At Beckerings reservoir Colin Holmes had a four fish catch during a night session all the fish were mid doubles, and an angler I only know as Trevor took a common of 18lb along with a small mirror. There have been a few small pike taken over the week and anglers have started reporting the bream have started to be taken during the day.
The canal this week has seen a few more anglers on the bank, most of those fishing have been taking silver fish. Bailiff Steve Sharp reports anglers fishing on section 13 & 14 were catching silver fish. He also reports that the new car park at the golf range is ongoing but has been held up due to the bad weather, but when finished will extend down to canal gate until then we park just inside the road gate and walk through the work site.
The match this week was held on Town South and 15 members fished, all those fishing caught.
