The Grand Union canal has picked up with the warmer weather. Steve Sharp fishing mid week put a good weight together with one carp, large roach up to 12ozs, bream to 1 1/2lbs and hard fighting hybrids to 1lb.

 

On Friday some nice large bream were reported.

 

One member Fred Walton who is 87 reported catching a 13lb carp.On Saturday an angler had a 20lb + 12lb mirror carp.

 

At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley the fishing has certainly improved. Barry Stevens surface fishing over the week caught 11 double figure carp, 4 twenties and a 30 pounder.

 

Brett Herdman caught 3 carp up to 22lbs. Roach and perch are still being caught by the pleasure angler and a lot of bream are being taken on the surface on baits intended for carp.

 

At North House Lake, Wyboston Jim Bevan caught a 15lb 8oz common, Ivan Sayer caught commons of 12lbs and 10lbs and Damon Mathews had a 7lb 4oz bream and a 5lb 8 oz tench.

 

Members are reminded that when fishing North House only fish halfway across maximum to opposite or adjacent swims.

 

On the South Lagoon George Gibson caught 70 roach to 12ozs on wheat and on the adjoining River Ouse Steve Briggs caught a 5lb 11 oz tench and bream up to 7lbs.

 

Dawn Hatchelt caught a 9lb 10 oz zander and Danny Kelly a superb specimen zander weighing in at 14lbs.

 

Luton A C match men entertained Vauxhall A C on the Grand Union canal at Chelmscote on Sunday fishing for the 'Paul Kisby Memorial Trophy'. Vauxhall won the Trophy with George Kay of Vauxhall being the individual winner with 27lbs. The top 3 Luton anglers were:-

 

Pete Currell Snr 9lbs 8ozs

 

Ricky Quick 7lbs 4ozs

 

Malcolm Dann 7lbs 2 ozs.

 

On Saturday 11th August Luton A C match men fish in the NFA Division 1 National on the Stainforth and Keadby canal in Doncaster. Our best wishes go with you.

 

On Sunday Luton A C visit Houghton Regis Pit for an Inter-Club with Dunstable A C. Fishing 8.30 to 13.30, draw at 7.15am.
