14th January 2007
With the adverse weather conditions this week there is very little to report. The rivers have been in total flood and our most northerly sections of the Great Ouse are still covering many miles of adjoining fields.
Either the torrential rain or gale force winds have meant very few have fished the canal over the past week but the few who have fished have taken a few fish from the normal sections and winter hot spots. The canal is at the moment back to its normal level after its rather poor water levels over the past year but is a little coloured.
Beckerings is still fishing well for the time of year, the best fish of the past week was a 26lb 12oz mirror which fell to the rod of Kevin Lead and there have been numerous fish to around 15lb showing. Peter Studwick had a six bream catch the fish each weighing between 5-8lb.
On North House Lake the only angler reporting fish this week was regular Jason Regan who had a 24lb common.
The South Lagoon water level has been well up this week. Bailiff Danny Kelly reports there have large numbers of jacks taken through the week these have probably entered the Lagoon from the river to escape the flood. Simon Heath managed to fish a midweek night session to take four zander of 12lb 4oz, 11lb 8oz, 9lb and 8lb.
The match this week was fished on section 14 and was attended by 19 anglers.
1st D.Perry 10lb 7oz
2nd M.Dickens 9lb 12oz
3rd P Oldroyd 9lb 5oz
Next weeks match is on sections 3a and 3b draw is in Dolphin Lane
