With the cold snap continuing more predator anglers are hitting the banks. At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley a number of pike have been caught the largest reported weighed just over12lbs.

 
Members of the Luton A C website Forum are having a 'Get Together' at 9.00 am on Friday 28th December at Lavendon Mill just past Olney, upstream of the weir. Please register onto the website for further details, new members welcome. In the New Year Luton A C are looking for new or lapsed members as they are discounting the membership fee for the remainder of this season on the basis that you pay for season 2008- 2009. On the Grand Union Canal there has been very few anglers out and about but Luton A C fished their Christmas Match at the Globe Inn. 25 anglers fished in very cold conditions (brass monkey) Results:-
 
1st    Paul Malster    4lb 1oz
 
2nd    Dave Pearce    3lb 12oz 8 drm
 
3rd    Lol Breach    3lb 2ozs
 
Most of the fish were caught on worm, squatt, pinkie and bread punch.

Shim Arthurs lost a carp that would have won him the match.
 
Luton A C's next match is on Sunday 30th December on the canal at Town South against Ampthill & District A.S. Draw 8.45 fish 10.00 to 15.00. Bring something heavy to break through the ice failing that bring your ice skates. 
 
Luton A C's long serving Match Secretary Dave Read will retire at the end of the current season. Dave said that he has been in the company of some very good anglers from Luton A C and from other local clubs. Over the past 8 years Dave has enjoyed running the match program. Thank you Dave from the match men and the Board.
