At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley, the changeable weather has not stopped the carp feeding. Dave Frazer over 2 sessions caught a 20lb common followed by a 24lb mirror. One night angler on Friday caught a good 20 pounder with a few double figure carp coming out during the week.

At Biddenham Dave Murdoch Snr fishing the last few pegs near the golf course had perch up to 2lbs and a couple of small chub on legered maggot and several takes from small pike when reeling in his bait fish. Fergal O'Kane took a pike of around 5lbs whilst reeling in his dead bait.

Steve Sharp our canal bailiff  reports that there are still plenty of fish to be caught on the canal despite the recent colder weather. Anglers at the 'Stoke Hammond Layby' were catching silver fish but could have done much better had they fished with lighter line and smaller hooks. Through the winter months Steve has found it pays to use 22 hooks or smaller with 1lb or less bottoms and max 2lb main line.

A member at Slapton was fishing this way and catching some quality roach while two other members fishing just yards away using strong line and size 16 hooks remained biteless.

At Grove a day angler caught a 15lb mirror on a high viz yellow boilie. At Bragenham Side Stoke Hammond anglers were catching skimmers and roach and at the Three Locks two carp (8lb & 10lb) had been caught by member Ed Walton again on high viz single boillies fished on their own with no free offerings.

At the Globe the usual carp swims are still producing with a Leighton member catching 3 up to 13lb+ in a couple of hours on Dynamite Baits Boilies.

The boat traffic has certainly died down now with only a handful seen moving during the day as most have settled onto their winter moorings.
