With the weather still bad most venues have seen very few anglers on the bank and bailiffs have reported the waters have been devoid of people for most of the week.
The latest reports I have had from the river sections are that many are still over their banks and those that are within the banks are high in flood and coloured.
Alf the canal bailiff ventured out over the weekend and found a few anglers fishing on the usual popular spots, most anglers were out Sunday as this was possibly the best day we have had over the past week. Those fishing were reporting that although the fishing was quite hard most were catching at least some fish, most were catching using small baits float fishing on fine line and small hooks. On section 4a anglers reported taking small crucian carp in mixed nets.
At Beckerings there has again been very few anglers on the bank and the only report is from Jim Tookie who had a pike of 13lb as well as roach and perch on the float. The carp are still being taken by those fishing with fish showing through the day and night.
On the South Lagoon Simon Heath had pike to 13lb as well as a zander of 8lb and father and son William and Bill Holtum shared a pike catch of five fish between 6 and 15lb.
At North House regular Bret Herdman had a three fish catch taking two commons of 15lb and 19lb and a mirror of 17lb 8oz.
The match this week was fished on section 3a
1 D Pearce with 5lb 8oz
2 R Lear 5lb 1oz
3 J Salmon 3lb 8oz
Next weeks match is on section 7 the Globe
