On the Grand Union canal the fishing is good on most stretches. A common of 20lb 10oz was caught at Grove, Lucy Smith aged 9 fishing 3 maggots on a 16 hook caught 40 fish at Grove with perch to 2lbs and roach to 1lb, Good bream to 4lb were also being caught on boilies and there were multiple catches of single figure carp at Slapton and at Ivinghoe Golf Range as well as a few decent roach. Alec Sharp fishing the Golf Range had two mirror carp both doubles at 14lb+ & 10lb+ with several good roach and bream all caught on corn over hemp also at the golf range an angler reported taking a carp off of the top and another fishing the pole was catching skimmers to 1.5lb on halibut paste and he had also had 3 carp on pineapple paste The best reported fish from section 9 was a 16lb+ mirror. Lots of good roach with a few bream on sections 8, 9 & 10. At Slapton some excellent bream to 4lb have shown.
At Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley a number of carp are coming off the surface on dog biscuit. Gary Stevens had 5 carp up to 23lbs, Phil Anderson had a 20lb common and Kevin Barables had a small double. Mark Sessions caught a carp of 12lbs a tench of 8lbs and lost a carp of over 20lbs at the net. Darren Savage had a nice mixed bag mainly perch and roach.
On North House Lake Wyboston, Ivan Sayer had commons of 24lb 2ozs, 22lbs, 14lbs, 10lbs and a mirror of 15lbs. Mark Farrell had commons of 28lbs, 25lbs, 20lb 7ozs and 20lbs and Daniel Wells had a common of 25lbs. On the adjacent South Lagoon, Mark Farrell caught a 16lb ghost carp and John Rutter had a 6lb tench.
Thanks to all the volunteers who attended the work party at Black Cat on Sunday, 3 platforms were rebuilt and a new platform was erected, swims were strimmed and overhanging branches were removed.
