Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley, a few mid double carp came out during the
week. Gary Stevens caught a 19lb 14oz mirror and Michael Evans caught a 16lb
10oz common. Pike are showing the largest reported came in at 12lbs.
On the South Lagoon, Wyboston, a number of pike and
zander have been reported. The largest a pike of 28lbs from peg 28 on a dead
bait. Mark Simmonds caught a 13lb plus pike and a 9lb 10oz zander and John
Oddy caught a 14lb pike.
On the Grand Union canal at the lay-by at Stoke Hammond
member Mick Smith fished for pike as the rivers were flooded and was rewarded
with two low double figure fish from the deeper water towards the bridge both
caught on sprat fished hard on the bottom.
Our bailiff Steve Sharp stated that out of all of our
Stretch of canal, section 1 offers the best chance of a 20lb+ pike, as big
pike have been caught on the same length in past seasons.
Steve Janes caught a fantastic 2lb 8oz
roach and assisted the angler in the photo to land this double figure mirror
carp.
The angler was fishing light with a 3lb mainline,
1.7lb bottom, 22 hook and single red maggot and had to play the carp over the
top of a number of narrow boats.
A couple of matches have taken place on the canal.
The West Middlesex Winter League fished sections 3a, 3b
and 4a. Three Locks to Chelmscote.

2nd Robby Blackburn 11lb 10ozs (2 large perch +
skimmers)
3rd Anthony Sparrow 11lb 3ozs (7 bream)
4th John Taylor 10lb 10ozs ( perch and
skimmers)
Luton A C fished at The Globe. 21 fished.
1st Pat Mills 6lb 6ozs ( skimmers and roach)
2nd Richard Lear 5lb 7ozs (silver fish)
3rd Dave Batchelor 5lb 5ozs (silver fish)
This Sunday Luton A C hold the Knockout Shield Round 3
and Club match at Ivinghoe Golf Range.
