10th February 2008

Despite the seemingly better weather this week there were few fish about and even fewer anglers.
I have had no reports from the canal this week but talking to the match secretary the canal was hard going on Sunday.

At Beckerings Mick Stringer had a low double figure common midweek, and Peter Strudwick had a four fish catch during a day time week day session. A few small jack pike have been taken.

The South Lagoon this week has a fair number of pike taken this week although they have been mainly small fish, Bill Holton had four small pike but his persistence was rewarded with a Zander of 14lb while his son William took six small pike along with two bream the best at 10lb. Some of you may have seen the article in the Anglers Mail this week, Ian Welch visited the Lagoon targeting the Zander, Although he missed out on the Z`s he had two pike of 14lb and 15lb 8oz, he left vowing to return for another try at the Zander,

The reports from the river were that they were high, coffee coloured and pushing through.

The match this week was moved from the river at Biddenham to section 5 of the canal, where 13 anglers fished. First was P.Mills with 2lb 12oz second M.Harley 1lb and third was D.Moss with 12oz.
Next weeks match is on section 14

If you do get out at all please make sure you let us know how you get on!
