The persistent rain last week certainly put off any chance of river fishing, at Wyboston the South Lagoon is over its banks with most of the swims under water. A number of anglers fished from the higher banks. James Bishop caught a 9lb 1oz zander and Clifford Stubbs fishing on Tuesday night on peg 2 caught a 14.5 lb pike on dead bait just before dark and an hour after dark landed a 17.5 lb pike again on a dead bait, Pictures of these fish are in the photo gallery on the website. Dave Tuff caught a 17lb 5oz common carp on North House.

With this stretch of the canal affected by an incoming stream, the mid-week flooding looked likely to make it difficult. Whilst the level had dropped within the bank the flow put paid to the roach leaving skimmers the target for good points. Roger Bones early carp could have been followed by another, which snagged him mid-canal late on. Worm and red maggot scored for most anglers with most managing the odd bonus skimmer early on.
