With the combination of rain, hail and snow there were very few anglers out on the bank last weekend. At North House Lake, Wyboston the colder weather did not put off the carp. Bruce Starling caught a trio of twenties, all mirrors, weighing in at 24lbs 14ozs, 24lbs and 22lbs 10ozs. Ivan Sayer caught a 17lb 3oz common.

Very few anglers on Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley, last week, only reports of fish getting hooked and coming off, which reminds me that this is the venue for the next work party on Sunday 6th April, starting at 9.00am. These work parties are for members and prospective members who would like to find out more about a particular water. Volunteers will qualify for discounted membership. The remaining work parties are as follows:-

Sunday 20th April    Eaton Ford & Black Cat
Sunday 11th May    Wyboston Complex
Sunday 25th May    Biddenham
Sunday 8th June    Lavendon Mill.

On the Grand Union canal very little information apart from a 3lb + perch coming out near the Globe but it was the final round of

Luton Winter League.
Results - Round Six - 23rd March 2008
Venue: Grand Union canal  - The Globe, Leighton Buzzard
Individuals:

1st   Steve Davis  (Priory match Group)   6lb 13oz

Skimmers on squatt on pole.

2nd M Buchwabler (Milton Keynes)  5lb 8 1/2 oz

Skimmers and bits on pole

3rd L Newsome (Fox match Blackhorse) 5lb 6oz

Skimmers and bits on worm

4th I Bagshaw (X-Rods) and P Malster (Luton AC)  4lb 6oz

Skimmers and bits in squatt

Yet again the weather conspired against the anglers with almost an inch of snow falling between the draw and anglers reaching the canal bank, finding the pegs became interesting. Falling temperatures meant bites were going to be hard to come by and the top three individuals all came from 'D' Section adjacent to the Globe Pub where the smaller skimmers switched on and off through the day . Skimmers were present in all the leading weights as roach failed to show . Steve Davis landed 14 small skimmers and a bonus perch to take the honours and the top individual spot for the series. Fox Match Blackhorse took the team honours on the day and ousted Milton Keynes from the league title in the process.

Team Result:

1st =  Fox match Blackhorse with 40 points

2nd = Milton Keynes Match Group, X-Rods and Priory Match Group all with 36 points
