James Beardwell aka 'The Secret Angler' who I reported on last week as doing very well at Beckerings Reservoir has sent me another recent picture of a 22lb 14oz common. He has notched up over 30 carp in recent weeks fishing mostly day sessions with at least the same number of bream. Whilst others have struggled on the water James has caught by being different and not fishing over beds of baits. His favourite tactic is to travel light and move onto showing fish. Bait has tended to be a Nutrabaits bottom bait with a stick of finely blended boilies. Slack lines and very light bobbins are again different from the bow string set ups that alot use and James says that he casts around very little to avoid spooking fish.
Dave Brosman was also at Beckerings and landed 5 pike to 12lb.
 
Multiple pike captures to 15lb+ are being caught from the river on the Wyboston Lakes complex.

The Luton AC Winter Membership Package is now on sale and is valid until 31st May 2010. Through a water share arrangement with Barnet Angling Club Luton AC members may also fish several additional stretches (not listed in the membership book) of the River Great Ouse, River Ivel and River Thames, maps that show parking areas etc are available to download from the club web site or by sending a request with an A5 sae (large size stamp please) to the club office. These waters offer excellent fishing for barbel, tench, bream and carp.
