A couple of weeks ago we published pictures of an estimated near 30lb Mirror Carp from North House Lake on the Wyboston Complex near St Neots Cambs and you may recall that captor Matt Harwoods scales failed to weigh the fish accurately. We have now received pictures of the same fish caught by Shane Welch when it weighed 29lb 14oz at the end of March 2009 (see pic). The Mirror Carp known as Pecs was caught on an Innovate Baits new Hairaiser boilie at 5am and Shane added a 19lb Common Carp with both fish being caught within 5 minutes of each other.

Two of the largest Common Carp in North House Lake have been caught this week to anglers who wish to remain anonymous at 35lb and 28lb with many other carp being caught up to around 24lb.

Dave Murdoch from Luton night fished on the Grand Union Canal at Grove Bucks and had an 11lb 5oz Common Carp at 5am followed by a new Personal Best Mirror Carp at 6.30am weighing 20lb 11oz (see pic), both fish falling to popped up tiger nut boilies.

On the same stretch Jack Hamper age 15 from Cheddington Bucks caught a 22lb 6oz Mirror carp (see pic) at 9.15am on a Mainline boilie.

 

Lots of good bream are being caught from nearly all of the canal sections now with Chelmscote and the Golf Range being the most prolific.

 

Alec Sharp fished the Golf Range Section on Friday and caught so many bream he lost count with most weighing 2-3lb. Successful method was feeder fished triple maggot on a size 14 hook.

 

Mick Byrne 32 from Letchworth Herts was at Beckerings Reservoir near Flitwick Beds and followed his personal best tench from the venue which we reported last week with a personal best bream of 7lb 3oz (see pic) caught close in on float fished triple maggot. Mick also caught many nice skimmer bream and perch.

This weeks workparty was at the new Tingrith Lakes Complex near Westoning Beds where the final swims were completed and the very large old sunken boat removed from 13ft of water with the help of a diver last weekend was broken up. Woodland Lake on the Tingrith Complex opens to members (no day tickets) on 1st June 2009 and promises to be a prolific fishery with very many quality tench, bream and roach having been stocked to compliment the existing carp.

Luton Angling Club requires some extra bailiffs to cover the Wyboston Complex near St Neots, Cambs working on a commission only basis this will primarily involve collecting day ticket monies. If you can help please contact the club office on 01582-728114.

The Wyboston area Fisheries Management Sub-Committee has been established and a new team of Club bailiffs has been installed in readiness for the new approach to fishery management and bailiffing that will come into force on Monday, 1st June.

Members and visitors who fish at the Wyboston Complex near St Neots Cambs should be aware that the Club’s Rules and Byelaws will be enforced without favour or exception. Unfortunately some activities practised by a minority have caused ill feeling and complaints in the recent past and the new team led by Trevor Mansfield, Fred Hodson, Terry Willison and Mark Simmonds are committed to eradicating rule breaking. Several new faces will be added to the bailiffing patrols and it is hoped that problems of the past will not reoccur.
