A couple of weeks ago we published
pictures of an estimated near 30lb Mirror Carp from North House Lake on the
Wyboston Complex near St Neots Cambs and you may recall that captor Matt
Harwoods scales failed to weigh the fish accurately. We have now received
pictures of the same fish caught by Shane Welch when it weighed 29lb 14oz at
the end of March 2009 (see pic). The Mirror Carp known as
Two of the largest Common Carp in
North House Lake have been caught this week to anglers who wish to remain
anonymous at 35lb and 28lb with many other carp being caught up to around
24lb.
Dave Murdoch from Luton night fished
on the Grand Union Canal at Grove Bucks and had an 11lb 5oz Common Carp at
5am followed by a new Personal Best Mirror Carp at 6.30am weighing 20lb 11oz
(see pic), both fish falling to popped up tiger nut boilies.
On the same stretch Jack Hamper age 15 from Cheddington Bucks caught a 22lb 6oz Mirror carp (see pic) at 9.15am on a Mainline boilie.
Lots of good bream are being caught from nearly all of the canal sections now with Chelmscote and the Golf Range being the most prolific.
Alec Sharp fished the Golf Range Section on Friday and caught so many bream he lost count with most weighing 2-3lb. Successful method was feeder fished triple maggot on a size 14 hook.
Mick Byrne 32 from Letchworth Herts was
at Beckerings Reservoir near Flitwick Beds and followed his personal best
tench from the venue which we reported last week with a personal best
bream of 7lb 3oz (see pic) caught close in on float fished triple maggot.
Mick also caught many nice skimmer bream and perch.

bailiffs to cover the Wyboston Complex near St Neots, Cambs working on a
commission only basis this will primarily involve collecting day ticket

The Wyboston area Fisheries Management
Sub-Committee has been established and a new team of Club bailiffs has been
installed in readiness for the new approach to fishery management and
bailiffing that will come into force on Monday, 1st June.
Members and visitors who fish at the
Wyboston Complex near St Neots Cambs
Through a water share arrangement with
Barnet Angling Club Luton AC members may also fish several additional
stretches (not listed in the membership book) of the River Great Ouse, River
Ivel and River Thames, maps that show parking areas etc are available to
download from the club web site or by sending a request with an A5 sae
(large size stamp please) to the club office.

Remember to always use an unhooking mat when targeting specimen fish,
