The River Ouse- Biddenham

This fishery was bought by the Club in 1990 on the non-navigable River Ouse upstream of Kempston. It is accessed via the track to the west side of The Baulk Hosue on the current A428 Bedford to Northampton road near the roundabout at the eastern end of the Bromham bypass. The Club also has its own car park, fenced and locked approximately 200 yards from the nearest swim (No. 6).

This fishery offers just about everything to the river angler, Deep Wide and Slow Flowing at the downstream end and  Narrower and Shallower with a faster current at the upstream end with many species of coarse fish, some very large specimens can be caught in most swims. The river provides very good pleasure fishing during the summer and the Chub show well in the winter.

There are some changes in the 'pipeline' for the general area around Biddenham. A new A428 road is to be routed from the Clapham bypass roundabout, through what was the Bedford Golf Club and across the fields to the rear of our property, to link up with the roundabout at the end of the Bromham bypass. The area between the new road and the river is to become a County Wildlife Site and the area between the existing A428 and its successor is to be developed for housing, light industry and parks etc. These works will ultimately alter our access to the fishery but will not deny us entry during the works.

In order that the Club's fishery retains its peaceful scenic nature, Club Officers led by Chairman Dave Edwards, have secured an undertaking from the developers and the Environment Agency to establish an Off River Channel Supplementary Unit (ORSU) behind the Club's boundary fence along almost 100% of its length. In simple terms the ORSU will take the form of a 3 metre wide moat, some metre in depth, that will form a barrier to humans but establish an off river spawning and nursery area for fish. This should keep our bank free from local dog walkers and others of the 'free to roam' lobby..

The fishery is situated on the main Bedford to Northampton road and is currently accessed via a track from the A428. The car park is owned by the Club and can be accessed using the club's gate key.

As already mentioned there will be changes to the access to this fishery and the directions will be updated as and when any changes occur.
