The River Ouse- Blunham "Ham Barn"
Water Share with BDAC Barnet and District Angling Club own this stretch of the River and Luton AC members are allowed to fish this venue on production of their Luton Angling Club Membership Book.
The stretch at Hambarn has around 70 permanent pegs, and is renowned for its massive Bream shoals. If you're lucky enough to find one of these shoals feeding, 100lb bags are a real possibility. Tench are now a favorite target for Blunham regulars. The stretch also provides great Roach sport in late summer early autumn, and the venues resident Chub will feed all year round.
The Fishery The water is a varied Middle Ouse fishery offering a wide range of depths and flow. The slowest water will be found in the wide centre section known as “The Flats”. With narrower and faster stretches at the end. The boundaries are clearly marked with notice boards.
Danger Area The swims in the immediate area where the path meets the fishery are extremely steep and have u ndercut banks and the water is very deep. Extra care should be exercised if fishing in these areas.
Species Roach, Bream, Chub, Tench, Perch, Gudgeon, Bleak and Pike
General Advice A good fishery throughout the season, although boats can be a
problem during the summer months. Weed growth can also be a problem, especially
along The Flats between June and September. A trolley is advisable.
