The River Thames- Sonning, Berkshire

Barnet and District Angling Club own this stretch of the River and following negotiations with Luton AC our members are allowed to fish this venue on production of their Luton Angling Club Membership Book.

 

This water consists of one and a quarter miles of the River Thames in Berkshire, species that can be caught at this venue are, Chub, Barbel, Bream, Roach, Dace, Perch, Pike, Carp, Gudgeon and Bleak. The banks are tree lined, which gives some cover and some good holding areas.

 

 

 

 

The Fishery

This water is one and a quarter miles long and the upstream boundary is at the beginning of the trees marked by the club notice board. The downstream boundary is also marked by a club notice board.

 

Species

Barbel, Chub, Roach, Bream, Chub, Perch, Gudgeon and Pike

 

General Advice

This fishery fishes well in both summer and winter, even though there are lots of boats in the summer months it still fishes well. A trolley is advisable

 

 

Please remember to respect the Rules of both Luton Angling Club and BADAC as any problems will result in the loss of these waters.

 

 

Getting There

Take the M25 Anticlockwise to the M40 Junction 16.Follow the signs to Oxford as far as Junction 4 which is the A404. Turn left onto the A404. Pass Marlow Bridge (over the Thames) to a roundabout, go straight over and take the first turning on the left (about ¾ mile) signposted Henley, Turn left straight over the roundabout to Burchetts Green, Keep on this road until it meets the A4 and turn right towards Reading continue for approx 6 miles until you reach a Roundabout signposted to Sonning (Texaco garage on left hand side). (3rd exit off B478 will take you to the top end of the fishery), continue on this road until you reach the 2nd turning on the left (High Street), Park by the wall on the right. To get to the fishery walk back to the B478, turn left walk down to the traffic lights and the entrance is on the right. The boundary is the club notice board (about 200 yds). For the bottom end of the fishery, take the last exit off the roundabout on the A4 after about 50yds turn into Milestone Crescent which leads to Milestone Avenue. Follow this lane to the bridge over St Patricks Stream (do not go over the bridge). Park on the left (do not obstruct the road) the fishery is on the left via a footpath.

 

There are two locked car parks one at St Patricks Stream end and the other at Sonning road bridge end of the fishery,
